About ISKCON Guwahati:
The temple is a lovely sight during the festivals of Janmashtami (September), Jagannath Rath Yatra (July), and Holi (March) which are celebrated with great joy. Therefore, visiting the temple during the festivals is one of the best things to do. In summers, the temperatures go as high up as 36 degree Celsius which makes it a bit warm. On Sundays, the temple is thronged with several devotees who come from near and far to attend the aarti and offer their prayers. Even though this makes the place crowded, it is actually the best day to visit the temple.
The ISKCON Temple has become one of the celebrated tourist spots of Guwahati because all people irrespective of caste, creed and colour are welcomed here. International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is a global organization that was formed in the year 1966 in New York City. This is a sect that follows the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition. They are disciples of Radha and Krishna. ISKCON is not anti-Hindu. ISKCON is the Hare Krishna movement, the modern off shoot of the Sankirtan movement started by Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in the 1500s. ISKCON follows the Vedic system. Hindu is a word invented by Muslims.
