About Murlen National Park:

Murlen National Park is a national park located in the Champhai district Mizoram in India. The size of the park area is 200 km2 (77 sq mi).The park is situated about 245 km east of Aizawl, and is close to the Chin Hills. It lies north of Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary in the same district. It covers an area of approximately 100 km2. The tropical, semi-evergreen and sub montane Forests of Murlen are home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. About 15 species of mammals, 150 species of birds, 35 species of Medicinal plants, 2 species of bamboos, and 4 species of orchids so far have been recorded in this Park.

Murlen National Park is categorized by tropical, semi-evergreen and sub mountain forests. The forests are so thick that only 1% of rays can penetrate even on a sunny day. It is often compared to the Amazon in South America.

About Namgyal Institute of Tibetology:

The foundation stone of the museum was laid by the 14th Dalai Lama on 10 February 1957. On October 1, 1958, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India, inaugurated the Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology.

Nestled amidst lush and evergreen thickets, the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology is an ideal centre to learn about Buddhist cultures and traditions. Established in 1958, this institute is in fact the home to the largest collection of Tibetan preaching outside Tibet, and this include relics from 11th and 12th century collected from different parts of the world.

It is one of the largest repositories of Tibetan works, located outside the Tibet region. It displays some of the rarest and oldest collection of ritual objects, mementos, religious art, jewellery, Tibetan iconography, documentaries and books on Sikkimese tradition and culture.

There is also a library which boasts unique Buddhist tomes, some of which are a hundred years old.

About Do-Drul Chorten:

Do-drul Chorten is a stupa in Gangtok in the Indian state of Sikkim. The stupa was built by Trulshik Rinpoche, head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism in 1945. The stupa is surrounded by Chorten Lakahang and Guru Lakhang, where two statues of Guru Rinpoche are present. Next to the Chorten is a monastery for young Lamas with a shrine containing huge images of Padmasambhava and his manifestation, Guru Snang – Sid Zilzon.
