Sunny’s Gramophone Museum also known as Discs & Machines, is a unique private venture which is one of its kind in the country. Opened to public on the 25th of January, 2015, the two floored depository is a storehouse of over 1 lac rare records and about 260 gramophones, phonographs and record players. Established as a result of passion and avidity of Mr. Sunny Mathew – a retired officer of Kerala Forest Department, the private enterprise is a treasure trove of vintage cars, vinyl records, gramophones, valve radios, tape recorders, olden day telephones, sewing machines etc. of the bygone era in the last 3 decades.
The building was constructed with the objective to preserve the rich antique objects and make them available for the future generations to see and study from. The museum houses rare gramophone records from the period as old as 1900s and 1940s; the earliest in his collection dates to 1897. Most of the instruments still function perfectly and Mr. Sunny personally takes care of them all. On request, he even plays them for you and can even give you a brief context of the instrument. The verve, enthusiasm and knowledge of the gentleman is beyond par. Besides exploring the artistic and heritage excellence of this place, it is also an ideal spot to research and learn about 20th century music.

This is one of the famous temples of Krishna in Kerala which is at least 1500 years old. This temple is located in Thiruvarppu, which is 6-8 km from the town of Kottayam on the shores of Meenachil River. (Varppu is the cast used by smiths to make bell metal vessels)
There are several stories about its origin. All of them talk of recovering the idol of Lord Krishna with 4 hands which was kept in an Uruli (Flat vessel made of bell metal). Here are some of the stories:
This temple is connected with Mahabharata. When the Pandavas lived in the forest, Lord Krishna gave them his statue with four hands so that they can daily worship it. It seems when Pandavas finished their sojourn in the forest and wanted to go back, the people of that area, requested for that idol. This was worshipped by the people of Cherthalai. But after some time due to reasons beyond their control, they were not able to continue their worship. So they simply dropped the idol in the sea.
After a long time a great sage (some say it was Vilwamangalam Samiyar and other say it was Padmapadacharya, the disciple of Adhi Shankara) was travelling by a boat in these parts. Suddenly his boat became immobile. When some one got in to the sea to find out the reason, the sea dried at that spot and they were able to recover this idol. The divine person took the idol with him. Though he wanted to go west, the boat travelled to the east via Kunnam and Pallikkara and reached the present spot of the temple.
The divine person got down there along with the idol and found that a temple of Dharma Sastha was without any idol and hence he consecrated the idol in that temple.

Malliyoor Sree Maha Ganapathy Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Here, in Malliyoor Sree Maha Ganapathy Temple, Lord Ganesha is worshipped as Vaishnava Ganapathy, with a young Sree Krishna seated on the lap of Lord Ganesha. The temple is believed to have been established long before the rule of the Perumals. Some pre-Perumal historical records have references to the importance of this place of worship.
According to the legends, the temple was jointly administrated by two families, the Aryappally mana and Vadakkedam Mana. These two families united to form the Malliyoor family. But the family soon fell into bad times. Even though, renovation works were done at different stages for the temple, the works always got disrupted. It all changed with the then priest Bhagavatha Hamsam Brahmasree Malliyoor Shankaran Namboothiri starting to recite ‘Sree Maha Bhagavatham in front of Ganesha and offering to his Lord. His intense prayer and the devotion resulted in the infusion of the spirit of Mahavishnu into the idol of Ganesha. That is why the deity here is termed as Vaishnava Ganapathy.
The temple is built as per traditional Kerala architecture, but currently a major renovation work is underway to elevate the temple to the status of a Mahakshetram. A Vishnu Maheswara Temple is being constructed beside the main structure now, with chuttambalam, thidappally and mulayara.

Mozart Art Gallery is a haven for art enthusiasts and lovers. With an objective to popularize fine arts and to impart knowledge about contemporary and classical paintings and sketches, this private venture provides a platform to artists across countries to view the methodology and technique behind painting, sketching and other fine arts.
The gallery is a fine representation of paintings and works of Mr. Somu where he has used a variety of paints including acrylic, oil, charcoal, pencil and other combination. Other than the brilliant collection of Mr. Somu, the quaint exhibition displays antiques and other traditional products from Kerala. A lot of exhibits in the gallery are based on the theme of Ms. Arundhati Roy’s ‘God of Small Things’ which was published in 1997.
