Shree Mahaganapathi Temple Gokarna

About Shree Mahaganapathi Temple Gokarna:

Maha Ganapathy Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vinayaga located at Gokarna in Karnataka State, India. The Temple is located at about 100 meters from Mahabaleshwar Temple. Lord Ganesh Idol is a standing one which is quite unique and dates back to Ramayana Period. This is an ancient temple, built in honour of Bala Ganesha who saved the Athma Lingam from Ravana.

This is a very small temple located in the vicinity of Mahabaleshwar Temple. This Temple houses the granite image of Ganesha. The image is 5 feet (1.5m) tall and two-handed; at the top of its head there is hole that is said to be a mark of a violent blow inflicted by Ravana. This will be shown by the priest on our request in early morning time during abishekam time. At that time devotees are allowed into the garbha griha and to touch the loard and place ‘garika’ at  lord’s feet.
