Gnana Saraswati Temple is a Hindu temple of Goddess Saraswati located on the banks of Godavari River at Basar, Telangana, India. It is one of the two famous Saraswati temples in the Indian subcontinent, the other being Sharada Peeth. Saraswati is the Hindu Goddess of knowledge and learning. Children are brought to the temple for the learning ceremony called as Akshara abyasam.

it is dedicated to goddess saraswathi,the goddess of knowledge and learning.a number of legends are associated with the saraswathi temple,basar. Behind the temple there is a hillock with few steps, which take you to pillared hall, almost like a cave. There is a little door in the rocks that takes you down to a cave, which was believed to be the meditation hall of Veda Vyasa. This cave where Veda Vyasa performed penance to please Goddesses Saraswathi is called as “Kumarachala”.
