About Kallil Bhagavati Temple Perumbavoor:
Amidst the beautiful natural surroundings is an old historical shrine – Kallil Temple. This Jain temple is located 12 km from Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district of Kerala. Kallil is one of the oldest shrines and it is protected site under Archaeological Survey of India. Kallil Temple is a popular attraction and it is a must visit while in the southern state. Besides, the main feature of the temple that draws devotees is the wonderful rock formation. The temple has a large rock above the man-made temple and it stands rises up to 25 feet in height, 75 feet length, and 45 feet width. It is said that the top part of the rock served as a roof and the bottom served as the seat of the Goddess Kallil Bhagavathi. A noteworthy shrine sits in a hillock in Kallil hill and it has rock carved images of 23rd Tirthankara, Parshvanatha, Padmavati Devi and Vardhaman Mahavira (24th Tirthankara).
