About Kolleru Bird Sanctuary:

Kolleru Bird Sanctuary is a sanctuary in Andhra Pradesh, India. It covers 673 square kilometers. It was established in November 1999, under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.  Kolleru Bird Sanctuary covers mainly two districts of Andhra Pradesh they are Krishna and West Godavari districts and between the River Krishna and River Godavari deltas spread over 10 to 25 km from Eluru City.

Kolleru is one of the most important wetlands of India. The lake supports 200 species of birds, including the critically endangered Spoon-billed Sandpiper, (Kolleru committee report 2010). Nature lovers can visit the place and the Nice place for bird lovers are awesome as we will never get chance to see so many at a time. It is one of the largest freshwater lakes located in state of Andhra Pradesh.
