Pari Mahal

About Pari Mahal:

Pari Mahal also known as The Palace of Fairies, is a seven-terraced garden located at the top of Zabarwan mountain range, overlooking the city of Srinagar. The main attraction is the numerous colourful flowers and exotic fruit plantations. The Palace of Fairies was built by Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It is believed that the mahal was once a Buddhist monastery. Pari Mahal was built in the mid-1600s by Mughal Prince Dara Shikoh. It served as a house and a library.

The Pari Mahal has also been used as a top-secret interrogation centre and as a base for high-level bureaucrats.
